We’re excited to announce that Topfloor will be launching their first wall-to-wall carpet collection, ALLURE, at London Design Week, which is taking place at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour from 13 to 18 March.

On 14 March at midday, Esti Barnes will also be hosting one of the event’s ‘Access All Areas’ sessions, together with ‘carpet guru’ Tom Heduan, at which they will discuss the new collection. Please save the date and come and join us for some industry insight and advice!

ALLURE, Topfloor’s very first wilton-weave carpet collection, is made from 100% New Zealand wool and tencel, comes in four-metre widths and is suitable for both residential and light commercial use. The inspiration for the collection came from Brazil, one of Esti’s favourite destinations. Each of the eight designs is named after a place close to her heart and captures some of the vibrancy, colour and variety of this great country.

‘Brazil’s culture, art and design are rich, vibrant and unique sources of inspiration for me,’ says Esti. ‘It was a pleasure to translate the country’s energy and style into product designs fit for sophisticated luxury properties – I love all the hues, delicate textures and distinctive patterns of this collection.’

Let’s take a look at the individual designs, starting with RIO. ‘To represent this amazing city I chose to focus on its love affair with all things Art Deco,’ says Esti. ‘My design reflects the stylised motifs that are typical of the movement.’

The textured, tactile BONITO, which comes in four earthy shades, takes its cue from the lush vegetation of the Serra da Bodoquena National Park in the country’s south:

‘The chic resort of Buzios – made famous by my personal icon, Brigitte Bardot – is subtly reflected in the soft, sleek chevron waves of its namesake,’ says Esti. The design comes in four colourways:

While the coastal area of Bahia, in northeast Brazil, is represented by a suitably nautical design that would look just the part below deck on a superyacht:

The modernist architecture of Brasilia, the bustling capital, is evoked in this stylised ‘window pane’ design:

The pleasingly geometric pattern of IGUASSU, which mimics the massive waterfalls, comes in four striking colourways, two neutral and two vibrant:

Finally, no Brazil-inspired collection would be complete without referencing its vast tropical rainforest – and the fronds and leafy veins of SELVA and AMAZON do just that. Both designs are available in three soft neutrals as well as dramatic black and white.

‘Fitted carpet is a new departure for Topfloor, and I’m really proud of our first collection,’ says Esti. ‘I hope to have captured a little of the flavour of Brazil – the colours and textures of its beautiful coastline, dense jungle and lively cities – in the individual designs.’
